LEAGUE MISSION

The goal of Gulf Coast Texans - Pensacola Futbol Club recreational soccer is to provide exposure of soccer in the community to youth that possess a wide variety of skill and interest for the purpose of promoting good health, sportsmanship, teamwork, competition, and developing a love for the game of soccer. All youth involved should have the type of positive experience that increases the probability of their return the following season and continuing their participation in this beautiful sport.

ANSWERS TO FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

REGISTRATION COSTS, DEADLINES, & UNIFORMS

Registration fee is $135 includes uniform.    

Uniform kit (plus ball as a special gift) is $35.00. If you can still wear your uniform from prior seasons those can be used again and a new uniform does not have to be purchased.  Once your uniform is ready for pick-up, your coach will be notified.'Open Registration' for the spring season begins JULY 11, 2017 and closes at 11:59 p.m. on AUGUST 15, 2017  Any registrations after this time will be considered late and are assigned on an "as available" first come, first served basis.  There will be a $10.00 late fee assigned to these registrations.

 

UNDERSTANDING AGE GROUPS

Recreational soccer is played in 2 year age groups, so U6 also includes U5, U8 includes U7, etc.

U6:     Born in 2013 & 2012

U8:     Born in 2011 & 2010

U10:   Born in 2009 & 2008

U12:   Born in 2007 & 2006

U14:   Born in 2005 & 2004 

WHAT IS PLAYER EVALUATION DAY?

Player evaluations are not tryouts, but are mandatory for all age groups U8 and higher. This is a recreational soccer league open to players with all levels of skill and interest in soccer. We are coordinating player evaluations for the purpose of working towards a more balanced league where all players will have a positive experience and an equal opportunity to improve their game.  The kids will have fun doing various training drills and small-sided games.

 

MANDATORY PLAYER EVALUATION DAY  

These are held on Saturday, AUGUST 19, 2017 at the following times on Field 4.  PLEASE ARRIVE 20 MINUTES EARLY FOR CHECK-IN.

U6 Boys & U6 Girls (must be at least 4 years of age) - No evaluations required

U8 Boys & U8 Girls - 9:00am to 10:30am (BORN 2011 AND 2010)

U10 Boys & U10 Girls- 10:30am to 12:00pm (BORN 2009 AND 2008)

U12 Boys & U12 Girls- 12:00pm to 1:30pm (BORN 2007 AND 2006)

U14 Boys & U14 Girls- 1:30pm to 3:00pm (BORN 2005 AND 2004)

 

PRACTICE & GAME INFORMATION

PRACTICES BEGIN THE WEEK OF AUGUST 28th.  Practice times are determined by your volunteer coach according to what best fits his/her schedule.  SOME COACHES DO PRACTICE ON WEDNESDAY.  There will be two one hour practices per week made available for each team.

Games are typically on Saturdays and will begin SEPTEMBER 9TH. It is possible for make-up games to occur on a weeknight including Friday.

All games are played at Ashton Brosnaham Park (10360 Ashton Brosnaham Rd, Pensacola, FL 32534).  The exception to this would be the U14 league and the U12 league where these teams may "inter-league" with other local parks in the Pensacola area.

 

WHAT TEAM IS MY CHILD ON? WHO IS OUR COACH?

Teams will be built during the week prior to the beginning of practice.  It does not mean that you should have heard from your child's coach simply because others have as this process takes a full week to complete.

 

UNIFORMS

The league orders the same or similar style every season so that a player can continue to use his or her uniform as long as it fits.  When uniforms arrive, the coaches are notified so that he or she can pick them up at the field house and distribute to their team.  Uniforms usually arrive the week of the first games.  The uniform kit costs $35.00 and includes a complimentary ball as a bonus this season while supplies last.  The kit has a white jersey, red jersey, black shorts, and black socks.  Any further questions about uniforms should be directed to Dawn Hart at clubmanager@gulfcoasttexans.com .

 

SPECIAL REQUESTS

We cannot guarantee players to be on the same team at age groups U8 and higher with the exception of those of the head and assistant coach that are coaching together.  We also cannot guarantee practice days and times as these are determined by our volunteer coaches.  You can secure your child's day and time for practice by volunteering to coach.  

With approximately 750 players in the recreational program, it is not feasible to meet all requests in our effort to also athletically balance the teams as much as possible. Thank you for your understanding with this. Once the draft is completed and rosters are formed no changes will be made and no refunds issued.

 

 

YES!  YOU CAN BE A COACH!  THE KIDS NEED YOUR HELP!

The kids need your help to coach and provide a positive soccer experience. Our desire is to make the rosters smaller this year so that all kids receive more playing time and touches on the ball. You do not have to be a soccer expert, you only have to have a desire to work with kids. We will have a Coaches Clinic to teach parents how to run practices, games, etc...as well as provide ongoing support throughout the season. All of us had to start somewhere - take a step of faith and enjoy the rewarding experience of working with kids!
