GCT Alumni matching up against each other in College
Text: The biggest game in the SEC last weekend featured 2 GCT Alumni going against each other. Florida squeezed past FSU 2-1 in OT on Friday night in Tallahassee in a game that saw Maggie Rodgers and Breezy Hupp face each other for the first time in the NCAA. Rodgers, a Freshman at Florida, is seeing good minutes as she adjusts to the pace of the SEC, while Breezy Hupp has been a solid starter for FSU in her Sophomore year. Rodgers scored her first Collegiate goal against Jacksonville University on Sept 3, while Hupp added her 2nd goal of the year against UCF on Sunday. Elsewhere various GCT players are seeing each other on the college field. Courtney Jenista played for Stetson against Hupp and FSU, and Gabby Devries played for FAU against Rodgers and UF. Aubrey Currington at Miss State came face to face with Clarissa Hernandez, Lauren Marsh, Kristin Sutton,Jess Oram, and Shawn Meach at USA. Director of Coaching, David Kemp, says these situations are becoming more common, "It is great to see our girls competing with, and against each other in the College arena. There will be more games during the season where our alumni will cross paths and hopefully many more games in the upcoming seasons where we will see our players excelling at the Collegiate level. It is great for the girls in our program to see players they used to practice with matching up in big SEC games, like the one this past weekend.
